Location

SI13 is located on the upper edge of the scapula, approximately halfway between the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra and the shoulder joint.

Medical information

SI13 is located cranial and slightly distal to the caudal angle of the scapula, in a depression between the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles.

SI13 is used to treat shoulder stiffness, local myopathies, and to promote Qi flow in the scapular region.

When needling SI13, care must be taken to avoid damaging underlying nerves and vessels. Aseptic technique is essential.
