Location

MA23 is located on both sides of the abdomen, about one hand's width from the midline and at the level of the 7th to 8th intercostal space.

Medical information

MA23 is located bilaterally, approximately 2 cun lateral to the ventral midline, at the level of the 7th-8th intercostal space, often palpable as a small depression.

MA23 is used to treat gastric atony, colic, vomiting, and to harmonize Qi in the middle Jiao.

Caution with deep palpation or needling, as the abdominal wall is thin and there is a risk of perforation. Do not use if peritonitis is suspected.
