Safety

ST22 should only be treated by experienced individuals, as sensitive organs are nearby. Take care not to needle too deeply and observe the horse during treatment.

Medical information

ST22 is bilateral, approximately 2 cun lateral to the ventral midline, at the level of the 7th–8th intercostal space, between the stomach and liver projection.

ST22 regulates stomach Qi, disperses stagnation, and can be used for acute and chronic digestive disorders, meteorism, and abdominal pain.

Caution is advised when using ST22, as proximity to the peritoneum and internal organs increases the risk of complications. Avoid deep needling, especially in thin or young horses.
