SP19 is located on the lateral chest wall, approximately at the level of the 3rd rib, slightly behind the elbow.

Medical information

SP19 is located on the line between the elbow and the shoulder joint, at the level of the 3rd intercostal space, about a thumb’s width behind the elbow.

SP19 is used to treat thoracic pain, dyspnea, cough, and to strengthen spleen function. It can also be helpful in cases of Qi stagnation in the chest region.

When needling SP19, special care must be taken to avoid injury to thoracic organs, especially the lungs. Do not needle deeply!
