GB3 is located at the junction of the zygomatic arch and temporal bone, slightly in front of the base of the ear.

Functions

Medical information

GB3 is located at the intersection of the zygomatic arch and temporal process, cranial and slightly ventral to the base of the ear, usually palpable in a small depression.

Indications include temporomandibular joint dysfunction, local pain, trigeminal neuralgia, headaches, and disorders of the ear and temporal region.

Caution is required when needling, as the point is close to the facial nerve and blood vessels. Use atraumatic technique.
