Yang Linking 1 – Jinmen, BL63

BL63, also known as Jinmen, is an important acupuncture point on the horse’s hind limb. It belongs to the bladder meridian and is often used to support mobility.

Location

BL63 is located on the lateral hind limb, in a depression just in front of the fetlock, between the splint bone and the cannon bone.

Functions

Jinmen is used to relieve pain and stiffness in the musculoskeletal system. It can also be used for acute lameness and to support bladder function.

BL63 is located distally and laterally on the hind limb, in the depression between the lateral splint bone and the cannon bone, approximately 1 cun proximal to the fetlock joint.

BL63 is the Xi-cleft point of the bladder meridian and is used for acute pain, lameness, and support in neurological disorders. It can also be beneficial for lower back and bladder issues.

When needling BL63, be aware of the proximity to tendons and vessels. The insertion angle should be shallow and cautious to avoid injury.
