Location

ST17 is located at the level of the nipples, around the fourth intercostal space, lateral to the sternum. In horses, the exact location is difficult as nipples are not visible.

Functions

ST17 has no therapeutic function and is not used in practice. It serves mainly as an anatomical landmark.

For safety reasons, ST17 should not be needled as it is close to sensitive structures. The use of this point is not recommended.

ST17 is located at the level of the nipples, in the fourth intercostal space, approximately 4 cun lateral to the midline. In horses, it serves only as a reference point.

ST17 has no indication for acupuncture treatment and is used solely as an anatomical reference point for locating other points.

ST17 is a forbidden point and must not be needled as it is directly over sensitive structures such as the lungs. There is a high risk of complications.
