Location

SP21 is located on the lateral thorax, at the level of the 7th intercostal space, below the end of the ribs. Precise location requires some practice.

SP21 is the 'Great Embracing' point, Luo-connecting point of the Spleen meridian. It regulates Qi and blood, treats generalized pain, weakness, chronic fatigue, and thoracic disorders.

SP21 is close to major vessels and the thorax. Use caution with needle depth to avoid pneumothorax or vascular injury. Do not use in cases of local lesions or infections.
