Location

LI17 is located on the side of the neck, just above the clavicle, in a depression in front of the insertion of the sternocephalicus muscle.

LI17 is found in the depression cranial to the insertion of the sternocephalicus muscle, approximately one finger's width above the clavicle.

LI17 is used to treat dysphagia, laryngitis, laryngeal edema, and local pain. It influences the course of the Large Intestine meridian in the cervical region.

When needling LI17, special care must be taken to avoid injury to the jugular vein and accessory nerve.
