GB44 is located at the lateral coronary band of the lateral hind hoof, precisely at the skin-hoof wall junction, distal to the lateral digital extensor muscle.
GB44, as a Jing-Well point, is used to clear heat, calm the spirit, and treat acute pain along the Gallbladder meridian.
Due to the exposed location, aseptic technique is essential; sedation may be considered in very sensitive horses.
