BL59 is located laterally, approximately 3 cun proximal to BL60, behind the base of the 5th metatarsal bone, between the peroneus longus and lateral digital flexor muscles.
BL59 is known as the Xi-cleft point of the Yangqiao meridian and is used for treating acute pain, lameness, and local soft tissue issues around the hock.
When needling BL59, consider its superficial location and proximity to tendons and ligaments to avoid local irritation.
