Bl53 is located on the dorsolateral aspect of the thigh, in a depression between the gluteus medius and biceps femoris muscles, at the level of the proximal third.

When needling Bl53, pay attention to depth and direction to avoid damaging surrounding structures such as nerves and vessels.
