BL41 is located below the scapular spine, approximately at the level of the upper topline, medial to the edge of the scapula.

BL41 is located 3 cun lateral to the dorsal midline, between the 3rd and 4th thoracic vertebrae, directly below the scapular spine.

BL41 (Fufen) is the Shu point of Taiyang and is used to treat wind-cold, upper respiratory tract disorders, and to mobilize defensive energy (Wei-Qi).

When needling BL41, be aware of the proximity to the dorsal branches of the spinal nerves and the underlying lungs. Avoid deep needling to prevent pneumothorax.
