Location

BL24 is located on both sides of the spine, at the level of the second lumbar vertebra (L2), about one hand's width from the midline.

Medical information

BL24 is located 1.5 cun lateral to the dorsal spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra (L2), in the paraspinal region, at the level of the iliac crest.

BL24 is used for treating lumbago, hindquarter weakness, sciatica, and to support Qi and blood circulation in the lumbar area.

In horses with acute back injuries, fractures, or lumbar infections, BL24 should not be needled. Use caution in cases of severe muscle tension or local skin changes.
