Yang Heel 8 – Dicang, ST4
Dicang (ST4) is an acupuncture point on the horse’s head, commonly used for issues related to the mouth and lips.
Location
ST4 is located laterally at the corner of the mouth, at the level of the oral fissure.

Dicang can help relieve tension around the mouth and is often used for chewing or eating problems.

This point should be treated carefully, as the area is sensitive and the horse may react suddenly.
Medical information
ST4 is located at the junction of the upper and lower lips, approximately 0.5 cun lateral to the corner of the mouth, in a small depression.
Used for treating facial paralysis, oral motor dysfunctions, local pain, and as support in dental or mandibular issues.
Caution is advised during needling, as the facial artery and sensitive nerve branches are in close proximity. Restraint is recommended for restless horses.
