Penetration 4 – Qixue, KI13

Chong 4 – Qixue (KI13) is an important acupuncture point on the horse’s abdomen, often used to support kidney function.

Location

Chong 4 is located on the abdomen, about 2 cun lateral to the midline, at the level of the umbilicus.

Functions

It is used to tonify kidney energy, warm the lower abdomen, and assist with urogenital issues.

Chong 4 (KI13) is located 2 cun lateral to the ventral midline, at the level of the umbilicus, in the region of the rectus abdominis muscle.

Chong 4 is used to tonify the Kidney and Chong Mai, for dysmenorrhea, urogenital disorders, and to support fertility.

Caution with deep needling due to proximity to the peritoneum and organs, which increases risk. Strict asepsis and calm restraint of the horse are essential.
