Medical information

ST5 is located at the anterior border of the masseter muscle, below the zygomatic arch, at the level of the mouth corner, usually palpable in a small depression.

ST5 is used for treating temporomandibular joint dysfunctions, local edema, facial nerve paralysis, and as support for dental and oral issues.

Caution is required due to the proximity to the facial nerve and facial artery. Too deep or improper needling may cause hematoma or nerve irritation.
