Location

SP5 is located on the inside of the hock, in a depression just below and in front of the medial malleolus.

Functions

SP5 is used to support spleen function, for digestive issues, and to reduce swelling in the hock area.

Medical information

SP5 is located distal and slightly cranial to the medial malleolus of the tibia, in the depression between the tendon of the long digital flexor muscle and the bone.

SP5 tonifies the spleen, transforms dampness, supports digestion, and is used for local swelling, lameness, and hock problems.

In horses with local lesions or marked sensitivity, SP5 should not be treated or only with caution. Aseptic technique is recommended.
