Penetration 1 – Qichong, ST30

The Qichong (ST30) point is located on the Stomach meridian and is an important acupuncture point for regulating energy in the horse’s abdominal area.

Location

Qichong (ST30) is located on both sides of the midline, about one hand’s width lateral and slightly below the attachment of the abdominal wall, near the groin.

Functions

Qichong is used to support digestion, in cases of colic, and to promote energy flow in the abdominal area.

Indicators

Safety

Qichong should only be treated by experienced individuals, as it is close to sensitive structures. Make sure the horse remains calm.

Medical information

ST30 is located bilaterally to the linea alba, approximately 2 cun lateral to the midline, at the level of the abdominal wall attachment, cranial to the inguinal region.

Qichong (ST30) regulates the Qi of the Stomach and Chong Mai, used for stagnation, colic, abdominal edema, and reproductive disorders.

Caution with deep needling, as Qichong (ST30) is in close proximity to major blood vessels (femoral artery and vein) and the inguinal canal. Aseptic technique and calm restraint are essential.
